Do horizontal forehead furrows or vertical creases between
eyebrows give you an angry, sad, or tired look? Sun damage
and weight fluctuation can prematurely add years to your
appearance, adding to the natural aging process. A brow lift
tightens and lifts forehead skin, removing unsightly
wrinkles and restoring your youthful appearance. The results
can be amazing-you, but about ten years younger.
A traditional brow lift starts with an incision discreetly
placed along the hairline near the top of the head. Forehead
skin is tightened, and excess skin and tissue are removed.
This procedure is typically recommended for patients over
40. An endoscopic brow lift involves the use of an endoscope.
During this technique, several small incisions are made
along the hairline, an endoscope is inserted beneath the
skin, the forehead skin and underlying muscles are lifted
and tightened, and surplus skin and tissue are removed. An
endoscopic brow lift is recommended for younger patients with
newly forming brow lines and wrinkles.
Both types of brow lift are done on an outpatient basis under
anesthesia, and either can be combined with a facelift,
collagen or BOTOX® injections, or eyelid surgery for more
dramatic results. The procedure takes about one to two
hours, and temporary side effects may include swelling,
bruising, headaches, or numbness.
