Recently, we interviewed Tasha Renegar, Surgical Coordinator at Coastal Cosmetic Center to find out why she chose CoolSculpting to eliminate stubborn stomach fat.
Tasha Renegar: I lead a healthy active lifestyle. I make good decisions with my food choices (mostly!) and go to the gym a few times a week. I’ve maintained my current weight for four years and am not planning to have any more kids. I wasn’t unhappy with my body, but thought it could be improved.
Tasha Renegar: I’ve always been somewhat boxy in shape. Wide around the middle for my size, with little hip definition. I’ve never felt womanly or curvy, always wanting that hourglass shape that seemed just out of reach from diet and exercise.
Tasha Renegar: I’m not susceptible to advertising ploys, so of course I didn’t believe that “freezing” fat could work. There are thousands of so-called fat melting products and none of them have ever worked for me. Nonetheless, the before and after pictures told a different story… which had me intrigued. I did some research, watched the videos, and saw that there was REAL science behind their claims. It wasn’t temporary water weight loss, the fat cells ACTUALLY die. They never come back. And I love how they are slowly reabsorbed by your body through natural metabolism. All without any downtime? Can this be true??
Tasha Renegar: So my next step was to have a consultation. Not fun, having someone you barely know pull and poke and take the “before” pictures. But it’s a means to an end. I was surprised by how much she said I needed, considering I considered myself in pretty good shape. I was also worried about loose skin afterwards, which is one thing deterred me from liposuction. My CoolSculpting representative said that the way your body metabolizes the fat slowly minimizes loose skin afterward, versus liposuction when so much fat is removed suddenly.
Q: What did the CoolSculpting treatments feel like?Tasha Renegar: After all of my questions were answered I was ready to start my treatments! I was nervous, afraid it was going to hurt. The gel pad was very cold, and the first time she turned on the applicator it felt like I was going to be sucked into the machine, but when it went numb after about 5 minutes, I was fine! She took off the applicator, and it was uncomfortable when she had to do the massage. I also had some pangs that felt like cramps for about five minutes afterwards, then they never came back. My skin was red (frozen!) and looked like I had a rectangular hickey. My biggest complaint was boredom. After the treatments were done, then it was just time to wait. I was worried that nothing was going to happen. I first noticed a difference at about three weeks, and at two months I was like WOW. Three to four months I was totally sculpted through my whole waist like I never thought possible!
Tasha Renegar: I’m sure for some people, surgery would be a better option. Liposuction is an instant result, CoolSculpting takes time to see results. But for me, I can’t miss work and being a mother for a week or two. I would rather use my time off to take a vacation! I was tender for a few days, and bruised slightly, but went to the gym and resumed normal activities on the same day as my treatments. You can’t do that with surgery.
Tasha Renegar: Yes! Obviously I’m a huge advocate for CoolSculpting, or I wouldn’t have agreed to have my story told. I love it. I’m so happy with my results, and so happy with my new figure. I ended up losing an inch and a half off my waist, which isn’t a ton, but to me makes the difference between looking okay in my clothes and looking amazing! There is not a day that goes by that I don’t appreciate my new waistline. What may not be obvious to everyone else is important to me.
