What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty, also called labia reduction, is becoming increasingly sought after as a solution for women who feel physical or emotional discomfort due to large or elongated inner labia (labia minora). Labiaplasty in Jacksonville is offered as part of vaginal rejuvenation.

What Are the Benefits of Labiaplasty?

Vaginal procedures are performed using advanced techniques to improve both the aesthetics and any functional issues of the inner labia. Women choose labia reduction to:

  • Increase self-confidence
  • Improve the appearance of undesirably shaped labia
  • Reduce physical discomfort during exercise and intercourse
  • Look more attractive in bathing suits, yoga pants, and other fitted clothing

By performing a simple cosmetic procedure such as a labiaplasty, Dr. Fee and Dr. Bilezikian can significantly improve the overall appearance and function of the labia. Women frequently state they have improved confidence. Additionally, many find that it is much easier to wear tight-fitting clothing, and the irritation and discomfort previously felt with exercise are noticeably reduced, and often eliminated.

Who Are Ideal Candidates for Labiaplasty in Jacksonville?

Women who have concerns about the appearance of their vaginal area may be great candidates for labia reduction. The labia minora (inner vagina labia/lips) can be prominent and extend beyond the outer labia.

Labial hypertrophy (large labia minora) may develop during puberty or following childbirth. Sometimes trauma to the labia minora leaves them misshapen. Some women who have undergone a labia reduction elsewhere in the past may require a revision.

Where Is Labiaplasty Performed?

Labiaplasty in Jacksonville and St. Johns is performed on an outpatient basis at our on-site licensed ambulatory surgery center, Coastal Surgery Center. It is a Medicare- and state-licensed ambulatory surgery center accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

What Can I Expect Following Labiaplasty?

Patients may experience mild swelling and discomfort for the first few weeks after labia reduction surgery. Most patients are ready to return to work that is not strenuous after just a few days. High-intensity exercise, intercourse, and impact sports must be delayed for about six weeks in order for complete healing to take place.
