Do I have to have Implants for a successful Breast Reconstruction?
Many women elect to have Breast Implants to give the fullness desired after a complete breast removal (Mastectomy) has been performed. Appropriate candidates may be able to have a reconstruction by transferring their own fat. This often requires more than one procedure to achieve appropriate fullness and will be evaluated by your Plastic Surgeon during your consultation. Furthermore, some patients may desire to only use their own tissue to be used for reconstruction. This can be a more complicated procedure involving skin, fat, and sometimes muscle from other parts of your body, but can also be a viable option that produces great results.
