Lines, wrinkles, and a drooping forehead can make you look tired, angry, or worried even when you aren’t experiencing these emotions. As frustrating as this can be, there is a procedure that can correct these issues and restore you to your younger self. A brow lift, or forehead lift, is useful in reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the forehead by repositioning the brow and adjusting the skin. There are a few ways to perform the surgery, so it is important to consider how each procedure compares to the other.
During the traditional brow lift procedure, a plastic surgeon begins by creating a single large incision following the patient’s hairline from one ear to the other. The surgeon will then tighten the skin and resect any extra tissue before closing the incision. Although this procedure is more stable and produces more dramatic results, there are a few important downsides to consider. Firstly, with an incision as extensive as in the traditional brow lift, patients can expect a greater degree of scarring which may be more noticeable in those with thinning hair. In addition, patients run a risk of hair loss, longer healing, and permanent numbness.
Endoscopic brow lifts are recommended for younger patients under the age of 40. This minimally invasive approach begins with several small incisions hidden in the hairline, rather than one large one. The surgeon will then use an endoscope to remove excess skin and tissue through each of the small incision sites. The skin of the forehead and the underlying muscles are then repositioned. There are many benefits to an endoscopic brow lift, which may include:
