Breast Implant Surveillance
in Jacksonville, FL

Are you worried there may be something wrong with one or both of your breast implants? At Coastal Cosmetic Center, our Expert Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Timothy E. Fee and Dr. Jordan A. Bilezikian specialize in breast implant surveillance with non-invasive ultrasound devices. With this advanced technology, your breast implant can be routinely monitored for leakage, rupture, or other potential complications.

What Is Breast Implant Surveillance?

Using advanced technology high-resolution handheld ultrasound scanners, our Plastic Surgeons can easily and accurately assess your breast implants in the comfort of a private office consultation room.  This provides real time assessment using detailed images, even in those patients with complex anatomies. By facilitating routine examinations and early detection of potential issues, portable high resolution ultrasound assists in maintaining patient safety and prolonging implant longevity.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Breast Implant Surveillance?

Any patient who has breast implants. Whether you want to provide yourself with peace of mind or you think something is wrong and would like them to be checked out, we will use live imaging software paired with High resolution ultrasound to assess your breast implants.

Does Breast Implant Surveillance Replace My Routine Breast Imaging?

Breast Implant surveillance is specifically a breast implant screening tool for potential complications such as implant rupture, leakage, or capsule complications. This imaging modality, although convenient and accurate, does not replace your routine breast imaging either for your breast tissue or your breast implants.

For average-risk women in the U.S., screening Mammograms typically begin between ages 40 and 50, with ongoing screening every 1–2 years until at least age 74. If you have higher risk factors, you may need to start earlier and/or have additional tests such as MRI.

For breast implants, the current FDA recommendations are to begin screening 5-6 years after implantation and then every 2-3 years after that with either MRI or ultrasound.

What if Breast Implant Surveillance Detects a Silent Rupture?

A silent rupture is one of the most feared complications of silicone gel based breast implants. If you are found to have evidence of a rupture or leak, our Expert Plastic Surgeons will guide you and discuss with you the next steps for treatment.

How Much Does Breast Implant Surveillance Cost?

Breast Implant Surveillance costs can vary depending on whether or not it is combined with another procedure. All applicable costs will be discussed during your private consultation with one of our Plastic Surgeons.
