The saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is true for noses too. Believe it or not- there is no “perfect nose”. Liking your own nose has to do with your personal preference as well as the rest of your face. Nose preferences vary- some people like a more prominent, defined nose, while others prefer a more delicate shape. The size, width, and placement of your other facial features such as your eyes, mouth and cheekbones affect how your nose looks on your face. The shape of your face and even the hairline matter.
If you have a wide nose, and have been thinking about making a change to something you like better or you feel is a better fit for your face, Coastal Cosmetic Center offers rhinoplasty techniques for a wide nose.
Rhinoplasty refers to procedures that mold or form the nose. In plastic surgery, it refers to a collection of procedures in which the structure of the nose is changed. These changes are made by adding or removing bone or cartilage, grafting tissue from another part of the body, or implanting synthetic material to alter the shape of the nose.
Correcting a wide nose typically involves one of two types of rhinoplasty technique. When a small amount of tissue needs to be removed, the plastic surgeon will employ the sill excision. For this, an incision will be made within the nostril. When more nasal tissue must be removed in order to narrow a nose, the surgeon will perform an alar wedge excision. For this, the incision must be external.
In some situations, both of the aforementioned rhinoplasty techniques will be performed.
Whether you want to look like a better version of yourself or a totally new you, your doctor will help to define your goals and with modern imaging tools, even show you the possibilities. Together, you will review your options and explain the wide nose rhinoplasty procedure.
